I am currently a vertical specialist writer for National World, covering health stories across the company’s portfolio.
I hail from Belfast in Northern Ireland and joined NationalWorld in April 2022 as a Trends and Entertainment Writer after working for the Belfast News Letter as a SEO Writer. I have previously written opinion pieces for Metro and Restless Magazine and was a runner-up in Ramona Magazine’s creative writing competition. Before embarking on a career in journalism, I worked in copywriting, leading a team of copywriters and picture editors.
During my time at National World I have written stories on Television, Film, Celebrity and Offbeat news, from stories including in depth explainers on notorious serial killerJeffrey Dahmer, a piece unravelling the true story behind Netflix series The Watcher and reviews of TV shows including True Detective season 4. I have also delivered engaging videos on topics including explainers on the recession, polio and the gender health gap.
I have a keen interest in women’s health and whilst at National World have written pieces on disability rights, endometriosis diagnosis delays and how an anti-sickness drug led to a grandmother living with life-changing side-effects. I have also interviewed Femtech brand Clue to talk about the importance of period tracking and Frendo CEO Dearbhail Ormond to talk about endometriosis in the workplace.
Outside office hours you can find me hanging out with my friends, husband and rescue dog Ernie. In my spare time I love listening to podcasts, binge-watching TV comfort classics and going for a dip in the Irish Sea.
