LLA's nominations follow a successful 12 months in which it was crowned Best European Airport of the Year (10-25 million passengers) by Airports Council International Europe, the trade association for 600 European airports. In 2023, LLA was named as the UK’s best airport by readers of the prestigious Condé Nast Traveller magazine.
This year’s shortlist sees LLA named as a finalist in the ‘Airport of the Year’ category, in recognition of its strong operational performance and continued investment in passenger facilities over the past 12 months.

Linking seamlessly with the Luton DART (Direct Air-Rail Transit), the all-electric Luton Airport Express takes passengers from central London to the LLA terminal in around 30 minutes.
Underlining the strength of LLA’s sustainable transport connections, LLA’s bus partnerships have also been recognised with two further nominations. Arriva’s Greenline 757 coach service from LLA to London Victoria, and the Stagecoach East MK1 routes from LLA to Bedford/Milton Keynes, are both nominated for the Best Bus Service award.
Alberto Martin, Chief Executive Officer at London Luton Airport, commented: “We are delighted to have been nominated for the ‘Airport of the Year’ award which is testament to the professionalism and commitment of our teams across the airport who work so hard to deliver operational excellence and a simple and friendly passenger experience. Enhancing connectivity is another key priority for London Luton Airport and it’s great to see our collaborations with rail and bus partners recognised as we look to promote our strong surrounding transport network and reduce the environmental impact of journeys to and from the airport."
The National Transport Awards celebrate commitment, expertise, and innovation of individuals and teams working across the United Kingdom’s transport networks.
Winners will be announced on 3rd October at the Westminster Park Plaza in London.
