Make a life-changing difference to intensive care patients at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Charity is delighted to be taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge to raise funds for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital.
The Big Give Christmas Challenge is an annual match funding campaign raising money for good causes. Between Tuesday 2 December at 12pm and Tuesday 9 December at 12pm, supporters have the opportunity to have their donation doubled at no extra cost to them if they use the dedicated link.
The money raised from the campaign will be used to enhance the environment in the relatives room, patient side rooms, visitor reception and staff rest areas at the new unit on Cedar Wing.
Ann Williams, Deputy Director of Nursing at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital, said: “The new unit on Cedar Wing is already improving the care that our patients receive, allowing all intensive care services to be housed under one roof.
“Our staff and patients now have access to an outside terrace which is vital in supporting health and wellbeing, and aiding the recovery of patients.
“We are proud of the hard work that has gone into this new unit, however we would love your support to continue to enhance the environment for staff, patients and visitors.”
The charity hope the Christmas Challenge will help them to reach their appeal fundraising target and allow them to transform critical care spaces.
Sarah Amexheta, Head of Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Charity, said: “This appeal is about saving lives today and protecting care for the future. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity shown so far and we’re asking our community to help us cross the finishing line and make this new ICU an incredible space for those in need of it.”
