The list is non-exhaustive, but here we look at 13 stunning villages and landmarks around Luton!
5. Caddington
Caddington is one of the largest settlements west of Luton and was once the centre of a thriving brick industry as the source of clay. It was named as 'Cadendone' in the Domesday Book of 1086. The name means 'Cada's down or hill'.
6. Lilley
Lilley is a quaint village with historic cottages lying just east of Luton past the Hertfordshire border. Lilley stands on high ground - nearby Telegraph Hill is just over 600 feet above sea level. (Copyright - North Herts Museum)
7. Streatley
Lying just north of Luton's border is the small hamlet of Streatley. According to the 2001 census it had a population of just 1,707. It contains one pub and the grade 1-listed church of St Margaret.
8. Upper & Lower Sundon
Upper and Lower Sundon are also just north of Luton, near the hamlet of Streatley. Upper Sundon is the larger settlement and contains a disused chalk pit often used by motorcyclists, while Lower Sundon is much older, wherein the 13th century St Mary the Virgin Church lies situated.
