A Luton youngster diagnosed with a brain cyst will be celebrating his ‘binary’ birthday on November 1.

Keen young footballer and Wigmore Primary pupil Jacob Nicholson was diagnosed with a benign brain mass six years ago..

His proud mum Lucy explained: “He was born at 01.11am on 01/11 and will be 11 years old. So this year will be an extra special one for him and our family.”

In addition, the Year 6 student from Wigmore was recently made a house captain and has been doing very well at school.

Lucy says: “He loves all subjects and enjoys maths. But he’s more into geography and knows virtually every flag in the world – and he’s happy to be tested!

"We call his brain cyst his ‘clever button.’

"It’s an Arachnoid Cyst, a benign mass in the Arachnoid layering of his brain. He has annual check-ups with a neurosurgeon.

"But even though he has daily headaches and sometimes suffers from fatigue, he manages very well.

"It doesn’t stop him being super smart and willing to take on any adventure.”

Jacob - who has a nine-year-old brother, Max - plays defender for Stopsley United Warriors and winger and striker for Crawley Green Eagles.

Football is his passion and he’s a keen supporter of Luton Town and Barcelona.

And while he’ll be going to school as normal on his birthday he’s in for a treat later that day, as he’s hoping to see the Hatters play Reading in the evening.
