Eleven-year-old Taylor Tappin, who lives in Sundon Park, is an enthusiastic drummer who regularly takes music lessons at his school.

Taylor, who lives with autism, finds drumming a creative outlet for expressing himself and loves to take part in the weekly clap for carers.

Friends and neighbours have been touched by Taylor’s heartwarming tribute to frontline staff each week.

And it means all the more to the youngster’s family, with dad Lee a frontline worker making deliveries for DPD.

Proud mum Donna said: “Taylor always used to have a plastic bottle which he would bash.

“He likes the noise and it’s quite calming for him – which is how we knew he would like the drums!

“He’s now taking drum lessons at primary school.”

The clap for carers is a staple event in the family’s calendar, which Taylor takes part in with his parents and brother Luke, 17.

Mum Donna added: “More and more neighbours are coming out each week and Taylor gets lots of compliments on his drumming!

“I think it helps get everyone in the mood.

“It’s absolutely fantastic to see so many people taking part in the clap and it’s a highlight of our week.

“Taylor really looks forward to going outside and playing his drums. He gets very excited.”

The UK is now in its eighth week of lockdown due to coronavirus. Despite the nation’s weariness with tough social distancing rules, Taylor’s drumming shows the clap for carers is going from strength to strength each week.
