River Lea spring clean
On Monday (March 7) a council team will start removing the silt that has built up in the watercourse, slowing the flow.
The excavated material will be piled near the river for a few days to drain and allow any insects or other creatures to return to the water.

A group of volunteers – led by community charity Groundwork Luton & Bedfordshire – will transplant reeds and sedges from elsewhere in the park to help with the natural filtration of the waterway.
The work being carried out is part of a wider plan of improvement and conservation projects to protect and enhance the River Lea. It is being led by the Luton Lea Catchment Partnership.
