Prosper expects to be too strong for Connelly

Luton boxer Kay Prosper is confident he will have too much for opponent Lee Connelly on the David Haye bill at the 02 Arena this evening.

Prosper, 31, in his seventh pro bout, is up against the 28-year-old Connelly, who was won four and lost 16 of his 21 bouts so far.

The Lutonian is expecting a tough contest though, as he continued: “Even though on paper his record isn’t a winning record, the people he’s fought and the way he just loses out on points, makes him a tough opponent.

“He fought Olympic champion Luke Campbell and only got stopped in his last round.

“There’s some really talented fighters and he’s only ever been stopped twice, so he’s going to be tough.

“He’s said to my manager he’s very confident he’s going to get the win, that I’m just a puncher and I can’t box.

“But my personal opinion is that I’m a better boxer than I am a puncher, it’s just that I can punch as well.

“I think he will bring the best out of me as I know his style, he’s going to come at me, be very aggressive, try to take me out of my stride.

“That’s where I’m going to look good, I won’t have to go looking for him, or trying to make the fight, he’s going to be there in front of me, and we’ll see whose got the best skills.

“We’ve both been training hard and both ready to put on a show, but honestly I think I’ll be too much for him.”
