Stunning run-chase win for big-hitting Luton CC

Luton CC recorded a stunning victory in the Luton & District Midweek League Premier Division as they chased down Luton Hawks’ score of 139-6.

Hawks, who had Naeem Khan (65) in fine form, posted what seemed a good total, but Luton CC fired an incredible 75 runs off the last five overs as Owais Shah (53) and Imran Younus (42) blasted the bowling to all parts of the ground as they chased down the target for the loss of seven wickets.

Luton Haiderys hammered Luton Majestics by 59 runs after amassing a huge 160-3 off their 16 overs thanks to Qaiser Shah who smashed an unbeaten 84. Majestics struggled in reply as Rahim Azim, 5-15, bowled an outstanding spell to skittle them out for just 101.

Luton Pakistanis were also in the runs as they posted a huge total of 159-3 against Luton United Stars with both openers Ibrar Walayat and Mohammed Haroon hitting half-centuries.

Stars then found it hard to keep up the pace as Shaan Ahmadzai bowled brilliantly to finish with 4-8, restricting Stars to 122-9 with only Abbas 33 putting up a fight.

Kingsway CC posted 159-1 as they eased to a 46-run over Haidery Tigers in Division One. Openers Sanjay Chandarana (77) and Gurdeep Jandu (54) shared what could be a record partnership of 135.

Tigers struggled to keep up with the scoring rate as they could only muster 113-7 with Rishi Chandarana (2-12) and Aftab Ali (2-20) bowling well.

Shaheen CC demolished AKCC as they skittled them out for just 39, with Saadh claiming 4-12. Shaheen then reached the target in six overs to claim an easy win.

Luton Saracens recorded an impressive victory as they set Luton Eagles a target of 94 and then bowled the Eagles out for just 37 runs, with Naseer Ahmed doing most of the damage with four wickets.

The Saracens extended their unbeaten run to four games in Division Two as they chased down AKXI’s total of 103. Saracens reached their target with ease as Mujtaba led the way with an unbeaten 32.

Kashmir Cavaliers were the winners in a tight game against Challney CC, who earlier made 101-8 off their allotted overs. Cavaliers then left it until the last over as Kamran Bashir (36) led his team home with six wickets to spare.

Cornered Tigers restricted Accident Specialists to 100-9 with Tahir Hussain claiming 3-20. Tigers then chased down the score thanks to Aneel Ishaq who hit an unbeaten 40 to lead his team to 101-3.
