Luton Town completed a hugely disappointing 2024-25 campaign with relegation to League One, a year in which no player was able to reach double figures in terms of goals.
It was the 13th time that has happened in the club’s history and to find out when that was, and who finished as the Hatters’ leading marksman during that season, see the gallery below.

5. 1949-50: Division Two
Luton broke their transfer record to bring forward George Stobbart to Kenilworth Road from Newcastle United for £11,500 in October 1949. He missed the opening 10 games of the Division Two campaign but on returning, scored in the draw with Tottenham Hotspur and then netted four times in a 5-2 victory over Blackburn Rovers. On target on a further four more occasions to make it nine in total from 30 appearances. Photo: Hatters Heritage

6. 1950-51: Division Two
Striker George Stobbart bagged nine for the second Division Two season running, as after taking 12 games to get off the mark, he scored in successive matches against Notts County and QPR. Ended the campaign in a good run of form, with four goals in eight matches, including finding the net during the final day 5-3 loss at Hull City. Photo: Hatters Heritage

7. 1974-75: Division One
With Town in Division One, Australian international Adrian Alston was one of three players to score seven goals during a season in which the Hatters just couldn't escape relegation to the second tier. Managed his tally from 21 matches, including scoring two in a 4-1 success over Birmingham City at St Andrew's on the penultimate game of the campaign. Photo: Hatters Heritage
