Luton Town completed a hugely disappointing 2024-25 campaign with relegation to League One, a year in which no player was able to reach double figures in terms of goals.
It was the 13th time that has happened in the club’s history and to find out when that was, and who finished as the Hatters’ leading marksman during that season, see the gallery below.

13. 1995-96: New Division One
Bulgarian forward Bontcho Guentchev was part of the Town team who dropped out of the old Division One when finishing bottom of the table, Scored the first goal of the season from the spot in a 3-1 loss to Norwich, one of his four penalties in total. Had a good patch midway through the campaign where he scored in three successive games, going on to get five in nine matches, as he finished up with nine goals from 35 appearances. 14. 1995-96: New Division One
In the same Division One season that Guentchev bagged nine, fellow striker Dwight Marshall also did as well, his goals coming from 26 appearances. Netted four in four matches including a double in the 3-2 success over Tranmere Rovers, but didn't play in the final 14 games of the campaign due to a broken ankle, which massively hindered Luton's attempts to stay up. 15. 1998-99: New Division Two
In a season in which the Hatters finished in 12th place, striker Stuart Douglas finished as leading scorer with nine goals from 42 matches, but despite reaching it with seven games to go in the 2-1 victory over York City, couldn't quite get to double futures. Photo: Hatters Heritage

16. 2000-01: New Division Two
A tough season in front of goal for the Hatters saw forward Liam George finish as leading marksman, finding the net seven times during his 43 matches. Was on target in consecutive outings during September, against Swindon and Bristol Rovers, also finishing the campaign strongly, with two in his last five outings in the contests with Bury and Bristol City.
