Green insists he can play in a 3-5-2

Winger Danny Green believes his is more than capable of playing in a 3-5-2 formation for Luton, should he be given the opportunity.

The summer signing from MK Dons has been left out of the squad for three games recently as manager John Still altered his formation to include wing backs, stating it was a system Green wouldn’t fit into.

But after being restored to the starting line-up on Saturday as Hatters reverted to a 4-4-2, Green said: “I feel like I can play in that, maybe as one of the three in centre mid.

“Maybe not as a wing back as much, because going backwards is not one of my specialities really, but going forward is, so I probably could.

“It’s up to the manager, whatever he picks and you’ve got to trust in what he does.”

Green had dropped down two divisions in the summer to join with Luton and was expected to be one of their major players this term, especially given the starring role he had for Still when at Dagenham earlier in his career.

With that in mind, the wide man admitted he had been a little surprised to be used so sparingly so far this term, adding: “That’s football, it happens to a lot of people. You’ve just got to get on with it, get your head down.

“It is frustrating for a player to drop a couple of divisions to come and play and then not play, but you’ve just to grow up and get on with it.

“I haven’t played as much as I’d have liked to, but my main aim is to get Luton out of this division and I still think we’re more than capable.”
