Luton fell to a 3-1 defeat in their Premier League clash at high-flying Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
The hosts had taken the lead when John McGinn opened the scoring in the first half, as they added two more after the break, Moussa Diaby and Tom Lockyer’s own goal giving Villa a commanding advantage.
Town hit back late on, grabbing a consolation thanks to Emiliano Martinez’s own goal, and to find out how the Hatters players rated on the day, see below.

5. Teden Mengi: 6.5
Another who had his hands full in trying to keep the movement of the clever Villa attackers at bay, but did top the visitors tackle count on the day with three. Caught out by one long ball over the top for the third goal, although deserves credit for sticking to his task well in the closing stages to prevent the Hatters' goal difference from taking a battering. 6. Alfie Doughty: 6.5
Thought he had played Cash offside only for the wingback to burst clear and set up what he thought was a goal for Watkins. Had the odd moment when sprinting away on the left, but Villa’s defence held firm to prevent him being as influential as he would have wanted. Taken off after the break when on a booking for hauling down the impressive Bailey having been nutmegged. Photo: Eddie Keogh

7. Marvelous Nakamba: 6.5
With Luton allowing their hosts to have possession for large parts, the ex-Villa midfielder held his shape well, but couldn't ever really get the ball back off his former team-mates. Helped spread the play well on the odd occasion Town were able to get hold of it, which wasn't often in the opening 70 minutes. Afforded a great ovation when substituted late on as the Zimbabwean is still clearly very popular in the Midlands. Photo: Nathan Stirk

8. Ross Barkley: 7
Brought into the side after his impressive cameo against Forest as he looked to try and get on the ball. That was made harder by the dominance Villa had for most of the game, but did exude a calm head when in possession. Like the rest of the visitors, came into it more after the break sending one shot over and his pressing led to a late chance that was blocked. First 90 of the season will be a real boost for his fitness. Photo: Nathan Stirk
