Luton fell to a 3-1 defeat in their Premier League clash at high-flying Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
The hosts had taken the lead when John McGinn opened the scoring in the first half, as they added two more after the break, Moussa Diaby and Tom Lockyer’s own goal giving Villa a commanding advantage.
Town hit back late on, grabbing a consolation thanks to Emiliano Martinez’s own goal, and to find out how the Hatters players rated on the day, see below.

![A difficult task for the attacker as Town were never going to have many moments on the front foot against such an in-form home team. When they did venture forward, he was caught needlessly offside on occasion which stunted any real progress up the pitch for the visitors. Lucky not to be booked as withdrawn in the second half having had no real sights of goal this time.](https://www.lutontoday.co.uk/webimg/b25lY21zOmU0Y2NmMWMxLTYyYWYtNDNkMC1iNGRhLWRhMjFlMDg3ZDkxMDo0NTY5NWI1NS00NDZhLTRiYTUtOWE2OC1jZWU5ZWQxMGFhNTg=.jpg?crop=3:2&width=640)

![Turned by McGinn for the opening goal, but was behind Luton’s best moment in the first half as he sped away on the left and almost picked out Morris. With Villa on top he didn't have that many chances to stretch his legs until after the break, but despite his clear pace advantage, Premier League defenders are a different class, as they were able to keep him at bay for the majority.](https://www.lutontoday.co.uk/webimg/b25lY21zOjc0MWNjYTMzLTBlOWEtNDRhYS04MTI0LWNhNTNiMGIzMGUzNzo5YTFhNWE0My1iMWIyLTRjNDUtOThmMy03YzI2NjRjYjFkZWI=.jpg?crop=3:2&width=640)

![With Villa having the lion’s share of possession it was always going to be something of a thankless afternoon for Luton’s top scorer who had very little in terms of genuine service, having to do the majority of his work in deeper positions. Almost picked out by Ogbene once, that was about it for the striker who did get any change out of the home side's back-line during his 76 minutes on the pitch.](https://www.lutontoday.co.uk/webimg/b25lY21zOjk4Zjc5Mzc0LTNiYmQtNDM1YS1hNDk0LTJkOTM4N2I4YmI1YzozODg5MjFiMS0wNTFmLTRhMjUtOTI3OC1jZDIyZDQzZGY5ZjM=.jpg?crop=3:2&width=640)

![Looked eager to get on the ball and affect things in the final third for Luton, confident enough to allow Villa players on to him and then try and beat them to create an opportunity. One such burst saw him win a dangerous free kick that the Hatters couldn't make the most of.](https://www.lutontoday.co.uk/webimg/b25lY21zOjUwZGQxM2QzLTZmMjctNGIwZi1hNDQ5LTIyMmMwMDI0NDZiZjpjNmQ3N2E2My01YjRlLTRiNTAtODRkNS0xNDUyMjMwZjM3OWY=.jpg?crop=3:2&width=640)
