Luton saw their Championship campaign get off to a nightmare start as they were hammered 4-1 by Burnley at Kenilworth Road last night.
The Hatters trailed 2-0 at the break, as although Tahith Chong pulled one back early in the second half, they conceded twice more allowing the Clarets ran out comfortable winners. To find out how the Town players rated on a disappointing night, see below.

5. Joe Johnson: 5
Real baptism of fire to life in the Championship for the teenager, as he was handed a full league debut against one of the toughest sides in the division, a classy and experienced Clarets XI. Appeared to be building into the game before he was caught out by one long ball over the top, allowing Odobert to speed away and double Burnley's lead. Few aimless passes and clearances after the break, he did show some promising moments with a terrific sliding block and a mazy dribble upfield in which he almost set up a chance for the Hatters. Will hopefully take plenty from a difficult evening and have the confidence to bounce back. Photo: David Horn

6. Alfie Doughty: 5.5
After a season of real promise in the Premier League, the wingback should be one of Luton's key performers in the second tier as he saw plenty of the ball, delivering a large number of crosses on the night. Unfortunately his delivery wasn't quite at its most consistent when it needed to be, not always beating the first man, although when he did Town looked dangerous. Used his head to great effect early in the second period with a perfectly controlled assist for the onrushing Chong, before Burnley wrestled control back and took full advantage. Photo: David Horn

7. Shandon Baptiste (STAR MAN): 6.5
Took his time to get into proceedings, but the longer the game wore on, the more he began to show just why Town brought him to Kenilworth Road this summer. Always keen to get on the ball and use it well, he broke up play impressively, although lacked support at times when breaking forward, one incident in particular ending with the midfielder having to turn back on himself and give away a free kick. Complained that he was fouled before the corner that saw Burnley get the killer third, and had a point. Despite the difficult night, it was still a positive first outing in a Luton shirt and should get even better the more minutes he plays. Photo: David Horn

8. Zack Nelson: 6
Another who was making his full league debut for the Hatters, picked ahead of the far more experienced Mpanzu with Clark absent and he looked extremely tidy on the ball, with a pass success rate of 97.4% from the 39 he attempted. Caught out for Burnley's first goal as he allowed Brownhill to get the run on him and couldn't recover in time, Town falling behind early on. Did help the Hatters have a good start to the second half, and tried to make it 2-2, seeing a shot deflected straight at Trafford. On a booking, he couldn't foul Taylor for Burnley's fourth, the forward striding through the middle. Will hopefully have more enjoyable nights in a Luton shirt. Photo: David Rogers
