Luton produced a wonderful display to defeat their sworn enemies Watford at home for the first time since 1993 on Saturday. Substitute James Collins scored with his first touch of the ball in the 78th minute after coming off the bench to convert a penalty won by Elijah Adebayo. To find out how the visitors rated on a magnificent afternoon, see below.
1. Simon Sluga: 8
Would never have imagined such a quiet afternoon against the Hatters’ arch-enemies. Didn’t face a single shot on target and offside flag raised in stoppage time ensured he kept a deserved 11th clean sheet of the season.
2. James Bree: 10
Defender looked far more up for the fight than he had done against Wycombe with a solid display on the right hand side. Went close with an angled free kick flipped over the top by Bachmann as his set-pieces often caused problems.
3. Kal Naismith: 10
A quite brilliant afternoon as he kept £25m signing Sarr quiet, the winger barely featuring as an attacking force. Starting to make the left back role his own and for a free transfer has been a superb addition. Less said about his free kick though.
4. Matty Pearson: 10
One of his best displays in a Luton shirt as he was on it from minute one with some booming headers and spurred the Hatters on throughout. Distribution was also greatly improved as it allowed Town to build impressively from the back.
