The visitors had led 2-0 at the break through Ollie Watkins’ double, only for Town to hit back through Tahith Chong and Carlton Morris, as they looked like earning a point at the very least. However, Lucas Digne headed home late on to steal the points, and to find out how the Hatters players rated on the evening, see below.
13. Daiki Hashioka (SUB): 7.5
After a first taste of English football in the FA Cup against Manchester City, he got his first experience of Premier League action when coming on early in the second period. Surprisingly introduced in the left centre half role, but it worked a treat, allowing Doughty to move out to his wingback role, as Luton instantly looked more of a cohesive unit once more. Helped keep the previously dominant Villa attackers quiet, as his versatility and undoubted defensive ability could be a real factor during the run-in. Photo: Liam Smith
14. Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu (SUB): 6
On as Chong took a knock in the final 10 minutes as he went into midfield to try and keep Luton on the front foot and press for victory, or at the very least, leave with another battling point added to their tally. Unfortunately it didn't end up that way, Villa able to nick the victory with their late, late winner. Photo: Liam Smith
