Luton Town’s FA Cup run was ended for another year by a blistering Erling Haaland, as he scored five goals for Manchester City during their 6-2 victory at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday night.
Mateo Kovacic was also on target for the visitors as the Hatters’ who managed two wonderful strikes of their own from midfielder Jordan Clark, were dumped out. To find out how the hosts rated on the evening, see below.
9. Tahith Chong: 7
Carried on his impressive form since returning to the starting XI as he carried the ball well whenever the chance arose in which to do so. One terrific cross in the first period was just out of reach of Morris but he didn't led his head drop, doing his defensive duties when they were required, which was often such was City's slick attacking play. 10. Cauley Woodrow: 6
Found himself well marshalled during the evening, as his opportunities were extremely limited. Made his own chance by having a pop from outside the box which didn't miss by much, but more often than not found his path to goal blocked off by the visitors. Caught offside more often than he would have wanted to which stunted some of Luton's rare attacks as he was replaced early in the second half by Townsend. Photo: Liam Smith
11. Carlton Morris: 6
While Haaland won a host of free kicks for a number of similar incidents, Morris couldn't buy a decision from referee Anthony Taylor for most of the night, having some exasperated words with the official about just why that was the case. Unable to quite get on the end of some early crosses from the left, his best chance came in the second period, as Ortega spread himself well to make the save from a tight angle. Photo: Liam Smith
12. Joe Johnson (SUB): 6.5
Baptism of fire for the teenager who had to come on when Haaland and co were in full flow, already 2-0 to the good and looking to add more. Couldn't stop City's machine-line forward from timing his run to perfection straight away and complete his hat-trick, but adapted well to the massive step up in class afterwards, having not experienced anything like that before. Pushed further forward after the break, he sent in the odd dangerous cross as certainly didn't let anyone down on the night. Photo: Liam Smith
