Luton Town were handed an embarrassing 5-2 hammering at the hands of Mansfield Town on Sunday afternoon.
The hosts led 5-0 with an hour gone, substitute Nahki Wells pulling back two late goals for the Hatters, and to find out how they rated, see below.

His move south in the summer was meant to have shored up the Hatters' back-line, but apart from at Chelsea of all places in midweek, that sadly hasn't been the case for Town so far, as their defence was ripped to shreds with total ease by Mansfield on Sunday, the Stags forwards often left in glorious isolation to find the net, which they did five times, ensuring Luton are now into double figures for goals conceded. Completed the most passes on the afternoon, but they were often sideways attempts as the visitors never looked like they were going to be able to mount the kind of fightback they had from 2-0 down at the same venue last term. Nowhere near the kind of influential display that he had been producing since hitting his best form in a Luton shirt under Wilshere as Town were way, way, way below par and second best all game. With the Hatters not having an out-and-out defensive midfielder, he struggled to offer the kind of screen that Luton's defence required as Mansfield were able to attack at will for the first hour, pressing their opponents into numerous mistakes and capitalising on their errors to score five times to punish a woeful performance. Did finally get something of a grip on the game from then on, but the Stags had comfortably declared by that point. Photo: David Horn

7. Kasey Palmer (STAR MAN): 6
The only starting player to really leave his imprint on the game, as he burst away early on to win a free kick, Mansfield clearly aware he was the man to watch out for, fouling him in full flight more than once. Tried his luck from 30 yards, which was always going to be ambitious, as despite throwing himself in the path of an early shot, did then lose the ball and not get the free kick he was after which allowed Mansfield to double their tally. With the game up, he at least kept on trying, setting off on several driving runs, sending one piledriver inches wide. Will hopefully be restored to a more advanced role when Town get their midfield reinforcements in before the window closes. Photo: David Horn

Tough ask to come in and start having just moved to the club 24 hours earlier, as in hindsight, it probably wasn't the right call to make by Wilshere, the Spurs loanee never quite on the same wavelength as the rest of his team-mates, demonstrated when he got in the way of Palmer's surging run just as the midfielder was about to unload at goal. One attempt of his own in the first half that deflected wide, he struggled to keep hold of the ball, as his passing often went astray, meaning Town barely threatened in the first half. Things didn't get too much better after the break either as he was taken off, not enjoying the kind of start he wanted to his Hatters career. Photo: David Horn
