The hosts, looking to end a run of four straight home defeats, were ahead after just five minutes when Cameron McGeehan nodded home Jake Howells’ corner.

Luton then made it 2-0 from the penalty spot shortly afterwards when Shaun Whalley was fouled and Howells converted the spot kick.

Hatters sewed the game up after the break when Scott Griffiths slid home another set-piece from Howells to move level on points with seventh-placed Plymouth Argyle.
