The 21-year-old, who moved to Blundell Park for a month on Friday, started the National League encounter, but unfortunately headed through his own net on 33 minutes.

However, he popped up at the right end just after the hour mark, when his long range effort was fumbled into the net by Fabian Speiss to make it 2-1, before the Mariners levelled late on.

Defender Andy Parry also had his first start for Altrincham after joining them on a month’s loan last week, playing 90 minutes as they were beaten 2-1 by Dover Athletic.

Speaking about the decision to send the transfer-listed duo out on loan, boss John Still said: “They’re two lads from the Conference days who have done brilliantly. They need to play, so it’s good we can get these players out playing games.

“We’ve really tried to help them find homes as it’s really important. They both played on Saturday so I was really pleased.”

Meanwhile, Hatters defender Mark Onyemah was named as the sponsors man of the match for Dartford during their Vanarama National League South 3-2 home defeat against Gosport Borough.
