The Luton stopper was in superb form at Victoria Park, denying Pools forward Rakesh Bingham on no less than five occasions, rendering home manager Ronnie Moore ‘gobsmacked’ that his team had eventually been hammered 4-1.

On his wonderful showing, Tyler said: “They had a couple of opportunities early doors, so it was a backs to the wall job, but I’m there to save them, Jack’s there to score them, we’re all a team, it’s not just down to me.

“It was a battle between me and Bingham and luckily I’ve come out on top.

“Personally I wouldn’t want to make them saves and have a quiet afternoon, I think we were a little bit too open and the gaffer said it in our little huddle.

“We need to improve on that, but we’ll do that on the training ground.

“I’m there to make saves, luckily I’m playing well at the moment, everyone’s got to play well to keep their place.

“We’ve got great competition for places and every week you’ve got to be on top of your game.”
