Harry Haslam's side headed to the Hawthorns needing just a point to go up, as they took the lead through Barry Butlin, before the Baggies levelled from the spot late on. However, Town had done enough to ensure they finished second behind Middlesbrough to reach Division One. Below, the Luton News takes a special look at just who took to the field for Luton that day.
5. John Faulkner
Started 40 out of the 42 matches for the Hatters, as he also added one goal, netting the opener in the 3-0 win over Millwall the previous weekend.
6. Alan Garner
Along with Thomson, he began all 42 matches for Town. Managed to find the net as well, that coincidentally coming in the same game as Thomson, Luton's 3-3 draw with Portsmouth.
7. Jim Ryan
Added seven goals to Town's promotion cause, as he played 40 times. Grabbed both in the 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest, bagging three penalties during the season as well.
8. Jimmy Husband
Joined midway through the season from Everton, playing 22 times, but still contributed an impressive eight goals including a hat-trick in the 3-1 win over fellow promotion rivals Orient in March.
