The full back has endured a torrid start to the campaign, and was at fault for at least one of Yeovil’s goal at the weekend, as he was sucked out of position for the Glovers equaliser.

Still, who has signed Griffiths twice during his management career, said: “Scott’s not been as bright as he normally is, not been as good as he normally is. Sometimes people don’t play to their form, that’s football, they’re not always at their best.

“Is there a line it in that tells us a reason? Not really. I was listening to the TV and one of the pundits was looking at the form of (Vincent) Kompany for Man City last season to how he’s started this season.

“It’s just one of the things that can happen. All that Scott can do is keep working hard at doing what he does and get himself into a better level of performance.

“When Scott first came here, his level of performance wasn’t very good and he ended up being one of our most consistent performers, but his form has not been good.”

Still had signed Dan Potts from Premier League West Ham during the summer as competition for the left back berth, but an injury to the youngster means he has little option but to persist with Griffiths for now.

He added: “Unfortunately Danny Potts is injured, so that doesn’t give us too many choices in that area,

“Having those two, we’re quite happy, but certainly Scott, along with a few others, need to up their performance level.”
