Still remaining way of Mariners threat
Although there is little riding on the match, as the Mariners are already assured of a place in the play-offs, while Luton have one eye firmly on next season now, Still thinks if their opponents decide to rest players, it won’t make them any less of a threat.
He said: “The way that I look at it is, if they make a change of two it will be someone’s opportunity to play in the play-offs as well.
“They’ll be decent and it will be a tough game.
“Whoever you play, if you’re not right, you’re going to get beat, at all levels. People say about Premier League and European Cups, unless your playing San Marino, there are no easy games.
“We had Lincoln watched at Kidderminster and two separate people, one did a match report and one watched a player.
“The match report was there was very little in the game and the guy that watched the player said Lincoln were the better side until they (Harriers) scored a goal.
“It’s about small margins. Sometimes you’re team might be one or two per cent better than the other team to win the game.”
Defender Scott Griffiths echoed his manager’s words and believed it was more about how his side perform on the night.
He said: “Whether it’s top of the league or bottom of the league, you’ve still go to go and beat 11 players.
“They can be a poor team or be a great team on the day, as long as we know what we’re doing and are on the ball, any other team will find it hard to beat us.
“On Tuesday night, we were all on it and any other team in the league would have found it hard to beat us.”
One thing that the new manager is trying to instil into his players is the art of teamwork though as Still added: “The biggest thing I’ve found with teams that do well is that their teamwork is very, very good, at the moment our teamwork is a little bit up and down.
“We’re still learning that. We had a meeting about the game against Lincoln and said the team’s understanding of what we want was better, certainly better than Saturday (at Gateshead).
“They’re just beginning to understand about teamwork, that it’s not about everyone playing well, but everyone trying to do the right things.”
