The 24-year-old made his first start for the club since joining in the summer during last Saturday’s 1-1 FA Cup draw at Bury.

When asked about his chances of retaining the shirt at the Shrimps on Saturday, he said: “I hope so. It will be tough because Cully (Mark Cullen) is doing well.

“John (Still) likes playing one up sometimes so it will be hard but I’ll keep my head down and I’m hoping I’m going to break in and keep my place.”

Walker got his big chance after an injury to striker Paul Benson, who broke his leg during the 3-0 win over Mansfield.

Although it opened the door for Walker, he took no pleasure in his team-mate’s misfortune.
