Walsh reveals it's been a learning curve since the first day ex-Arsenal star took over as Luton boss
Midfielder praises the impact of new Hatters manager
Luton midfielder Liam Walsh revealed that he has been learning new things to add to his game from the very moment that Jack Wilshere took charge at Kenilworth Road.
The 28-year-old, who signed for the Hatters back in August 2024, has started the last nine successive League One games since recovering from injury, gaining three assists in his last four outings too when his corners were headed in by Gideon Kodua and Mads Andersen against Leyton Orient and Port Vale respectively, also teeing up Nigel Lonwijk for his screamer in the 3-2 loss to Reading.
With Wilshere being a midfielder of quite some repute in his playings days, winning two FA Cups at Arsenal and earning 34 England caps as well, then even from his opening training session at the Brache, he has improved Walsh’s game already, as the ex-Everton youngster, who has represented the Three Lions at U16s and U18s level himself, said: “From the first day I learned something new straight away and that’s not even exaggerating it.

"I’ve learned a couple of things that I hadn’t learned through my career and taking that advice from someone like the manager, from what he’s done in his career, it’s easy for me to take and listen to. Even just around the training ground and on the training pitch, a lot of the lads are taking so much information off him. It’s so much information, but it’s so simple.
"The things that he does, he doesn’t over-complicate it. As soon as you speak about him you just remember that game he had against Barcelona (for Arsenal). I watched him when I was younger and for someone to have that amount of talent and finish so early it’s not great for himself, but he had some career, an unbelievable player. I’m in the lucky position now to learn off one of the best.”
