Wilshere bemoans Town's inability to go back-to-back after MK Dons defeat
Luton lose out at Stadium MK
Hatters boss Jack Wilshere was bitterly disappointed his side weren’t able to register back-to-back victories for the first time this season after being beaten 2-1 by MK Dons this afternoon.

Spirits were high going into the game, with Town, who were cheered on by 6,000 travelling supporters, having thumped Wycombe Wanderers 4-1 at Adams Park last weekend. However, there was none of the clinical forward play on this occasion, the Hatters having 25 shots in total, but only five on target. It meant that the Dons, who had just 11 of their own, scored with two of the three they put at James Shea’s goal, moving 1-0 ahead through Alex Gilbey’s unbelievable 30-yard angled volley in the first half.
Jordan Clark then drew Town level with 20 minutes, shooting low beyond Will Dennis, but a mistake by George Johnston nine minutes later saw him give away a needless penalty that Aaron Collins converted to make it double figures for the campaign already. Speaking afterwards, a thoroughly cheesed off Wilshere said: “That’s the frustrating bit as we felt like the game was there for us to do that, to go back-to-back in this league, which is really important, and to find that consistency which we’ve been speaking about.
"We had a good week’s training and they didn’t have to do much. In my opinion, we gave them the first goal. It’s a fluke or a situation where he’s trying to cross it, it goes in, we can deal with it better on the side. Then the second one is a penalty, which at that point it felt like we were the only ones who were going to go on and win the game. We didn’t, so that’s the feeling of frustration.
“I don’t think we had that much possession, I don’t think that was the issue. When you’re facing a team that’s in a low block, that probably aren’t pressing you, you don’t have to have that much possession, you can get into their half, and then it’s about trying to find the right opening, which turned out for us today was probably on the sides.
"When we did put it in the box, we probably didn’t attack the right spaces. When we did and it fell to us and we got an opportunity, we were probably a little bit wasteful. So that’s the frustration as it felt like we didn't have to do much to get there and they certainly didn’t do that much to score two goals.”
