In very windy conditions which made passing difficult, Park scored some outstanding team and individual tries, with scrum half Alex Lovell grabbing a hat-trick and Ben Griffin going over twice.

They were well supported by Park’s forwards where skipper Jamie Hoque and lock Michael Powell were prominent.

Park attacked from the start and were soon on the scoresheet when Griffin drove over for his first try.

Casuals soon levelled, but back came Stockwood as Lovell touched down three times, his first from a quickly taken free kick, his second from a good individual break and his hat-trick try on the end of a Griffin charge.

With Jason Carr converting once, Park led 22-8, although Northampton had cut that to 22-15 at the break.

In the second period, Griffin went over, with Carr adding a penalty to make it 30-15, but Casuals managed two scores of their own to reduce the deficit.

Stockwood held on though and entertain Stewarts and Lloyds RFC this week.

The club’s IIs hosted Northampton Casuals IIs at the weekend and ran out impressive 41-0 winners in the Directors League.

Some brilliant interplay between forwards and backs and some great off-loading lead to a host of tries as David Brooks grabbed two, while Seamus Griffin, Will Bennett, Trevor Fowler and Aaron Colbert all went over.

Park were stern in defence not letting anything through led by an outstanding tackling display from man of the match Karl Thomas.
