The performance, which was one of Park’s best to date this season, lifted the club to within a point of their opponents with seven games left.

Park’s pack gained an early ascendency which they maintained throughout as the first score came after only four minutes with winger Ieuan Beale pouncing on a clever chip through from scrum half Alex Lovell.

Fly half James Hankey dummied over for the second try and from there Park were in the driving seat.

Buckby kept in the game with a converted try of their own but by the interval scores by Michael Powell and Tom Edmunds, both converted by Stephen Pollock, who also added a penalty, countered by a second try for Buckby on the whistle gave Park a 27-12 lead.

Park dominated the second half with strong carries from both forwards and backs with Ben Griffen, Rob Rose and Jack Brooks prominent.

They reaped the reward with a second try for Beale and a penalty try before Lovell crossed for the final score. All three were converted by Pollock who ended up with 13 points in a thoroughly deserved victory.

To complete the day, Park IIs had a fine Merit Table 34-17 win at St Neots.

Park have a week off before returning to league action with a trip to St Ives on Saturday, February 13,
