This is the third year of GCSE outcomes since Houstone opened in 2022, building on the school’s rapidly established reputation for excellence and improving on last year's success, when the school achieved the highest proportion of pupils gaining a grade 5 in English and maths in Central Bedfordshire.

The achievement reflects the ambition and commitment shown by pupils throughout their time at Houstone as well as the school’s continued focus on providing an academic education, supported by high expectations and a culture where every young person is encouraged to achieve their best.

Strong performances were seen across a number of subjects, with 83% of pupils securing grade 4 or above in English and 76% in maths. Other notable outcomes included science (76% grade 4+) and Spanish (92% grade 4+).

Particular congratulations go to several pupils, whose dedication and consistent hard work led to them making exceptional progress: Alan P (Grade 9 in maths, history, Polish, science) and Alan S (Grade 9 in English, maths, biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, history).

Liz English, principal of Houstone School, said: “We are incredibly proud of our year 11 pupils and all that they have accomplished. Their GCSE results are the culmination of many hours of learning, perseverance and ambition and it has been a privilege to see them grow into accomplished young people.

"We congratulate every pupil and wish them every success in the exciting opportunities ahead.”

In addition to academic achievement, through the school’s weekly electives programme all pupils embrace the wider extra-curricular activities at Houstone, including a range of sports, Latin, chess, website design, advanced drawing and drama performance. These opportunities further develop the confidence and character of pupils, supporting them as they move on to Sixth Form, college, apprenticeships and future careers.

As part of Advantage Schools, Houstone School remains committed to providing an ambitious education where high expectations, aspirations and excellence are at the heart of everything it does. Both Advantage Schools and Houstone School congratulate the Year 11 students and wish them the best for their exciting futures.
