Luton based HR Specialist win a Bronze lifetime achievement award
Luton-based HR specialist, author and entrepreneur Bina Briggs has been named a bronze winner in two categories at the Great British Business and Community Awards: Lifetime Achievement and Female

The double recognition celebrates Bina’s long-standing contribution to the HR profession, her entrepreneurial success and her commitment to supporting businesses and the wider community.
Before launching Plain Talking HR in 2009, Bina spent 17 years working as HR Manager at Luton Airport. This extensive experience gave her an invaluable understanding of people management and the many challenges employers can face.

Through Plain Talking HR, Bina has used that knowledge to provide clear, practical and straightforward HR support to small businesses and growing organisations. Her down-to-earth approach helps employers navigate complex workplace matters, meet their responsibilities and create positive working environments.
Alongside her consultancy work, Bina is the author of the Amazon bestseller The Red Thread. The book explores the people, values and experiences that shape our lives, reflecting Bina’s belief in resilience, meaningful relationships and the importance of helping others.
Commenting on her award recognition, Bina said: “I am absolutely thrilled and deeply honoured to be bronze winner in both the Lifetime Achievement and Female Entrepreneur categories. After spending 17 years as HR Manager at Luton Airport, I took the leap and launched Plain Talking HR in 2009. I wanted to use my experience to make HR more accessible and less intimidating for smaller businesses.
“Since then, my journey has taken me in directions I could never have imagined, including becoming the author of the Amazon bestseller The Red Thread. Everything I have achieved has been shaped by the people I have met, the lessons I have learned and the support I have received along the way. This recognition means a great deal to me, and I am proud to represent women who start businesses later in their careers and prove that ambition has no age limit.”
Bina has built a strong reputation not only as an experienced HR professional but also as a mentor, speaker and active supporter of the business community. Her work is driven by a belief that business success should be accompanied by kindness, integrity and a willingness to help others progress.
Being recognised for the Lifetime Achievement Award acknowledges the lasting impact of Bina’s career and community contribution, while her place in the Female Entrepreneur category recognises the determination and leadership behind the continued success of Plain Talking HR.
The Gold and Silver winners will be announced at the Great British Business and Community Awards ceremony on 25th September at the Crowne Plaza Marlow.
