The exhibition, which Luton Comic Con CIC describes as a special final tribute to Dillon’s legacy, will showcase his remarkable career and lasting contribution to the world of comics.

Born in 1962, Dillon spent much of his childhood in Luton, attending Ickneild High School, where his passion for drawing and comics developed from an early age. His journey from a young artist in the town to an internationally recognised comic book creator is a story that remains a source of pride for Luton.

Dillon’s professional career began when he was just 16 years old, when he was hired to work for Marvel UK’s Hulk Weekly. His early Marvel UK work included drawing Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as work connected to The Hulk, before he went on to establish himself across some of the most influential British and American comics.

He would later become renowned for his work on titles including Judge Dredd, Hellblazer and The Punisher, as well as co-creating the acclaimed Preacher with writer Garth Ennis. His distinctive storytelling and character work made him one of the most respected British comic artists of his generation.

Taking place as part of Luton Comic Con 2026 on Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27, the exhibition will form part of a wider celebration of creativity in the heart of the town. The main event will be centred around St George’s Square, Market Hill and Luton Central Library, with free entry and a programme celebrating artists, musicians, filmmakers, writers, cosplayers and makers. Luton Comic Con is sponsored by Luton Rising, a social investment company focused on community benefit & socially impactful events.

For Luton Comic Con CIC, bringing Dillon’s work home for this final exhibition is an opportunity to celebrate not only a comic book legend but also a local creative who began his extraordinary journey in Luton.
