The Christmas lights will be twinkling at charity’s Little Bramingham Farm in Luton

The residents and care team at Little Bramingham Farm, at the award-winning Luton-based residential care home run by charity, Friends of the Elderly, are getting in the festive spirit and inviting friends, family, neighbours and the local community to join them at a Christmastime get-together and enjoy the first Yuletide celebration – the switching on of the care home’s Christmas Tree lights.

“This is the second year we have hosted our free community Christmas Tree Light Switch On party,” said Emma Lawrance, the Registered Manager at Little Bramingham Farm. “Last year’s ‘tree-mendous’ Switch On gathering was such a wonderful and successful community gathering, we just had to host it again to get the Christmastide underway for everyone.”

“On Sunday 22nd November from 4pm until 6pm, we are looking forward to welcoming old friends and new to the Holly Jolly evening,” added Karen Charity, the Activities Coordinator at the care home.

“Christmas is always a ‘Claus’ for celebration at Little Bramingham Farm and our Christmas Tree Light Switch-On party will be a wonderful way for the residents, their families, friends and the local community, to come together, sing carols, enjoy warming drinks and tasty mince pies as a special guests switches on the beautiful, twinkling Christmas Tree lights,” continued Emma.

“We hope to have a special guest come along and take the ‘reins’ in switching the switch and lighting up the Christmas Tree to get the festive season off to a twinkling start,” said Karen.

“We’ll also have more Christmas Stars at the event,” continued Emma. “The residents and guests will also be able to enjoy a sparkling Christmas performance The Disharmony Choir who will be entertaining everyone with a selection of their own songs, plus many well-known and classic Christmas songs and carols,” continued Emma.

“We’ll have lots of song sheets available so everyone can sing along with the Choir. It will be a beautiful pre-Christmas evening for everyone to enjoy and start the festive season with merriment and cheer – and, just like Mr Grinchie sings, the event will be definitely "Welcome, Christmas, bring your cheer. Cheer to all, far and near’.”

“We’ll also have tasty warming refreshments and scrumptious mince pies available for everyone to enjoy too,” added Karen.

“Everyone at Little Bramingham Farm is excited to welcome all our guests – the residents’ families, friends, neighbours and members of the local community in joining us all for an evening of Christmas song, happiness, glittering lights, festive fun and wonderful company – and as the famous saying goes, ‘It’s not the presents under the tree that matter, it’s the people gathered around it,” concluded Emma.
