Luton has opened a book of condolence today for the victims of yesterday’s terror attack in Westminster, available to sign in the Town Hall reception and online at www.luton.gov.uk. The flag above the Town Hall is flying at half-mast.

Cllr Hazel Simmons, Leader of the Council, said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with those senselessly killed and injured, their families and friends, and all those affected in any way by yesterday’s appalling and cowardly attack in the heart of our capital city.

“I know everyone in Luton will again stand united in solidarity with them, as we also express our deep gratitude to the men and women of the emergency services who work so bravely and selflessly to keep us safe.

“Terror serves no purpose except to bring our communities and people ever closer together. This is being demonstrated today as everyone who is able to resumes their daily business, deeply sorrowed but absolutely uncowed that their lives or values will in any way be changed by yesterday’s events.”
