Public meeting on post office closures
Worried customers can get their voices heard
Concerned Luton Conservatives have organised a public meeting on Friday, August 15, for anyone worried about two post offices in the town threatened with closure.
Branches in Atherstone Road and Trinity Road are two of five in Luton, and one in Slip End, which were named on a Post Office Ltd hit-list published last month.
The meeting, organised by Luton Conservatives deputy chairman John Young, is being held in Limbury Baptist Church Hall in Trinity Road, at 7pm and will be attended by two representatives of the Post Office Ltd consultation team.
Mr Young said: "Obviously we are very upset that they want to close the post offices. Personally I think they are an integral part of the community and would be a great loss."
He hopes the meeting will show the consultation team how vitally important the branches are to the local community.
Post offices in Slip End, Seymour Road, Biscot Road and High Town Road could also soon be gone if customers don't make their feelings known.
Members of the public have until August 26 to respond to the proposals in a six-week consultation period.
