Shoppers vote for Laci's swimathon

A Lewsey Farm convenience store has donated £286.76 to Laci's swimathon for The Children's Trust from its carrier bag charges.

Nisa Local, of St Dominic’s Square, started charging customers 5p a bag when the plastic bag charge was introduced, with any profits going to a local cause.

Scott Jell, store manager, said: “Every three months we choose a new local cause for the money to go to.

“We gave our customers two choices on our Facebook page and Laci’s swimathon ran away with the votes, the money is going to a great cause and well done Laci, an amazing amount of money raised for a fantastic charity.”

The cheque donation brings Laci’s total raised to £1,417 for The Children’s Trust.

Lisa Rogers, Laci’s mum, said: “Thank you to Nisa for thinking of her swimathon and The Children’s Trust as an option for the donation and thank you to everyone that voted for her.

“I am so proud of her and what she has achieved and she is really happy with what she has done and the amount raised.”
