Pirton brought down to earth

Pirton's record-breaking efforts the previous week were quickly forgotten as they were were well beaten by St Albans IIIs on Saturday.

St Albans batted well to total 221, with Richard Bayliss top-scoring with 64 not out.

Pirton’s bowlers toiled away without much luck b ut Jake Laskowski returned to dismiss the tail and end with figures of three for 28.

Pirton were soon in trouble in reply as they were reduced to 36 for four.

Paul Hockley was the only batsman to show any resistance as wickets tumbled around him. He was last man out for 50 as Pirton finished on 103 in the 39th over.

A humbling defeat for Pirton, who’s only positive was gaining 10 bonus points means they sit in second place with 100 points.
