Hatters boss ready to make up to five new signings
The Hatters chief has acted swiftly in the market so far, by adding Alan Sheehan, Johnny Mullins and Danny Hylton on two year deals, plus securing the futures of Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu and Zane Banton.
He is now turning his attentions to a goalkeeper, with speculation surrounding Brighton stopper Christian Walton, while Town have also been linked with a move for Seagulls defender Glen Rea, who spent time at Kenilworth Road on loan last term.

Hide AdSpeaking exclusively to the News/Gazette, Jones said: “We will strengthen the squad by the start of pre-season as we’ve made three signings, but we haven’t finished yet and we’re hoping to add again, from a higher level.
“We’re back in for testing on Friday, but by Monday we would have liked to have strengthened the squad again, because we’re close on a few things.
“There’ll probably be another four or five that are close to being done or we’re right there with them.
“One will be a goalkeeper, but that doesn’t come into the 20 man squad, as it will be 20 outfield players, so we’re close there.

“Then we get the whole pre-season with all our squad which will be a tremendous coup for ourselves and the club and I appreciate what the club have done.”
On the 20 man squad that Jones wants to have in place for the coming campaign, he confirmed that he will definitely involve some of youngsters he is bringing through at Kenilworth Road.
The boss continued: “They’ve shown they can step up, so there will be some development players in our 20 man squad.

“That’s what I want, that’s what I told the board when I first came in, that I want a tighter, leaner squad, an elite squad, but some of those have to be younger players.
“Because we want to stay in budget and we want quality not quantity. So to fit in with that, we want our good youngsters pushing those as well.”
