Luton face second placed Plymouth Argyle at Kenilworth Road, as a home victory would cut the gap on the Pilgrims to just five points.

Jones said: “It’s what we want as we can’t make inroads into the top three without playing them.

“The form that they’re in, the form that we’re in, they’re winning, we’re winning, so we’re happy with our own form but it would be nice to really make inroads into the gap.

“The only way we can do that is by playing them and beating them.

“I felt we were good value for a win last week (against Doncaster).

“I wouldn’t say they quite got out of jail as that would be unfair to them, but we were comfortable and I’m disappointed we didn’t come away with three points.

“But it’s another opportunity now against a real good side to make inroads into their gap.”

With third placed Carlisle United at home to Portsmouth, a game that could have further ramifications in the fight for promotion, but Jones wasn’t interested in goings on at Brunton Park.

He continued: “As long as we win, I really don’t care about any other result.

“All I’m concerned about is we keep winning and if we keep winning, then I believe we’ll end up in the position we should.

“We’re in good form, we don’t worry about anyone else. We respect everyone else but don’t worry about them.

“I think that showed last week in our performance, in how we set up, how we went out.

“So whatever happens elsewhere in other games happens, but we have to keep winning, because if we keep winning then our destiny is not far off being in our hands.”
