Posh chairman claims Hatters boss was misinformed over Tyler approach

The Town stopper, who was recalled to the side for Saturday’s 2-1 win over Hartlepool at the weekend, spoke out in the Peterborough press on deadline day, where he revealed an offer for his service from Posh had been turned down by Luton.

Jones denied there was ever any contact between the two clubs, but taking part in a live periscope chat yesterday, when asked about the situation, MacAnthony said: “The Luton manager got a little bit hot and sweaty about that recently and said that nobody about from Peterborough had spoken to Luton about Mark Tyler.

“He’s misinformed. We spoke to his directors about trying to bring Tyles back, so it was turned down, we move on, no big deal, I don’t know what all the kerfuffle was about.”

When asked about the interest from Peterborough earlier this month after the 1-1 draw with Yeovil, Jones had said: “We had no enquiries, no approaches whatsoever, no-one came to me and said ‘we want to take this player.’

“If anyone like Peterborough United want one our players, then go through the front door, come in and say, ‘we want your player.’

“We’ll have a value for any player and we’ll speak to people, we’re open. What we don’t do is go through the back door, or come out and stay stuff in the press that isn’t true.

“But I reiterate to any club, if you want any Luton Town players, come through the front door, because that’s what Luton Town do.”
