Allen blames complacency for Luton RFC defeat

The home side took control of proceedings as early as the fifth minute, through Ross McIntosh’s penalty.

Things got worse for Luton in the 10th minute, as George Majstorovic went over, McIntosh converting.

Following this slow start, Luton sprung into action as Rick Hobbs scored a penalty.

This seemed to inject a sense of urgency into Paul Allen’s team, and they put Old Priorian’s on the back foot.

Hobbs couldn’t capitalise on another penalty in the 23rd minute and from there, the game turned into a kicking contest.

Tom Mahendran held on to the ball as McIntosh converted his third penalty, but Luton’s captain made amends with a dazzling try.

Hobbs slotted the extras to make it 13-10, although the home side were in no mood to give Luton a way back, as they scored a converted pushover try through Stefan Rowell in the 38th minutes to lead 20-10.

After the break, Seb Oddi intercepted to extend Priorians lead, while McIntosh maintained his 100 per cent conversion rate.

Luton’s Chris Davis was replaced by Jonny Wright, but Seb Oddi crossed and McIntosh’s boot made it 34-10.

On the hour mark, Luton’s Tom Albone had to be stretchered off, while Dwayne Duffy came on for Luke Spellen.

Old Priorian’s George Majstorovic was sin-binned for unprofessional play and Luton took advantage of the extra man as Alexu Comenescu powered home with 10 minutes left.

The conversion was missed and Oddi had his third try of the afternoon, with McIntosh converting.

In the final seconds, Gary Jahn managed a consolation try, converted by Mahendran.
