The visitors elected to play down the slope in the first half and after the opening exchanges between the forwards, it looked like it might be a close contest.

However, Brentwood scored first with a cleverly worked try which saw Tom Simpson glide past the Luton defence to dot down under the posts, with Henry Bird adding the extras.

Luton gradually fought their way back into the match and when Brentwood failed to clear their lines, took full advantage to crash over and level the scores.

However, that would be the last time Luton crossed the Brentwood line as further first half tries from Declan Gillette, Adam Thomas, plus one conversion by Bird saw Brentwood lead 19-7 at the break.

In the second period, Luton were simply over-run as Gillette crossed for his second try which was converted by Bird to make it 26-7.

From there, Brentwood were in total control and they completely outplayed a now thoroughly dispirited Luton team.

The floodgates opened and tries from Tom King, Luke Green, Joel Bevans -Royston, Nick Binet, Aaron Stanier (2) and Bird (2) ensured Brentwood handed out a real hiding to the Newlands Road side.

Luton take a break from the league campaign this weekend when they host local rivals Bedford Athletic in the East Midlands Cup.
