Park find Vipers’ venom too much to handle

Stockwood Park were beaten 25-7 at home by Vipers in their Midlands Two East South clash at the weekend.

The hosts were watched by more than 100 former players who had attended a pre-match lunch.

Park, particularly in the second half and in the last 20 minutes of the first, spent a great deal of time in the visitors 22.

However, a combination of solid defence and errors at crucial times prevented 
them from narrowing the gap.

Vipers, on the other hand, had two good chances in each half and managed to take both of them.

Stockwood started slowly and were soon behind to a penalty and well-taken try.

A further try saw them trail 13-0 at the interval.

Park’s scrummaging improved with the return of Justin Harkin to the front row but their strike power was again diminished with the absence of Ben Griffin due to injury.

Park started the second half with confidence and soon scored as James Hankey forced his way over close to the posts as Steve Pollock added the extras.

Despite having a large share of the possession, Park were unable to add to their points total.

Vipers, however took the two opportunities they had and ran out winners .

This weekend, Stockwood are on the road as they travel to Daventry.
