Hats off to Dunstable Amateur Operatic Society (DAOS) who’ve pulled off a real coup in securing it – they’re the first musical theatre group to be allowed to present this great show.

The story revolves round Tracey Turnblad (played by Lucy O’Hare), a tubby teenager with big hair and a big heart whose one passion is to dance.

James Halling plays her love interest Link Larkin with Rachel Parkins as soul singer Motormouth Maybelle.

But behind the catchy songs and and energy-packed routines, there’s a serious message about diversity and racial integration in 1960s America.

DAOS is also running a theatre activity workshop make-over on Saturday, May 16 for youngsters aged between seven and 11. For more details email [email protected]
