Theatres offer plenty for children this summer
Among the Hollywood blockbusters winging their way to the theatres this summer are Disney’s Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie, the return of Blu, Jewel and the gang in Rio 2 (Leighton Buzzard only), and How to Train your Dragon 2, the thrilling second chapter in the adventures of Viking Hiccup and his faithful dragon Toothless. And as if that’s not enough you can also catch up with Britain’s best loved postman in Postman Pat: the Movie (Leighton Buzzard only).

Hide AdAt Leighton you can also join the team from Full House Theatre for drama, crafts and games, with a myth, maze and magic theme at a selection of children’s workshops. Whether you have had lots of performance experience of one at all you will have a magical time. Tickets are £6 for each session or £10 if you chose to stay for the whole day.
The workshops are: The Bewitching Drama Workshop (August 26, 10am-12noon; Dreamlike Movement and Physical Theatre Workshop (August 26, 12.30-2.30pm); Mystical Mask Making (August 27, 10am-12noon); Enchanted Masked Performance Workshop (August 27, 12.30- 2.30pm).
At the Grove local youngsters aged seven to 14 will be taking the stage in Insectzzz, a comical musical which will transport you to a colourful world just beneath your feet.

Hide AdThe stars of the show will spend a week in rehearsals and receive intensive training in musical theatre before its curtains up and lights on for performances at 2.30pm and 7.30pm on Saturday, August 9. Tickets are just £8.
There’s plenty going on for adults too with films like Walking on Sunshine and Jersey Boys and even a sing along version of Grease at Leighton Buzzard Library Theatre.
