Alex Mayer MP welcomes fall in Bedfordshire NHS waiting lists

Patients in Bedfordshire are being seen faster as NHS waiting lists fall, new figures show.
More than 15,000 fewer patients are now waiting for treatment at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since Labour took power.
The drop marks a sharp break from more than a decade of rising waiting lists under the Conservatives.
Local MP Alex Mayer said the figures show Labour is beginning to “turn the tide” for patients in Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard, Houghton Regis and surrounding areas.
She praised NHS staff for working “flat out” but warned winter pressures remain, with hospitals still battling flu.
She urged eligible residents to get a flu jab to help protect themselves and ease pressure on the NHS.
Alex Mayer MP said:
“Local doctors, nurses and other health care professionals are working incredibly hard to shrink the waiting list. It’s down even whilst there has been a record surge in patients.
“Thanks to this Labour government’s investment and modernisation, thousands more patients are getting a faster diagnosis and quicker treatment.
“It will be a long road, with twists and turns, but Labour is fixing our health service and making it fit for the future.”
