The Houghton Regis choir will begin its new term next Thursday (September 17), with new members invited to join the group.

The choir is led by local musician Michael Ryan, who welcomes singers of all abilities, sessions are focused on learning songs and performing.

Ryan said: “My main focus is on building community, having fun, and ensuring that everyone feels welcome, regardless of their background or experience level.

"Our core value at Buskerteers Choir is that if you can speak, you can sing. We don't have any auditions and we don’t use sheet music, making it completely accessible for anyone who wants to join in.”

He said: “For the year ahead, my main goal is to keep growing this amazing community and continue enjoying the power of group singing while supporting great causes. "For anyone thinking about joining, my advice is simple: just give it a try. It’s a warm, supportive environment centered entirely on fun, friendship, and making a positive impact together.”

The new term will also see members take part in fundraising projects as Buskerteers continues its drive towards the £1m charity target.

This October, Buskerteers is hoping to support Breast Cancer Now again, following two previous years of fundraising for the charity.

The choirs will then turn their attention towards the Christmas season, with festive performances and fundraising events planned.

Buskerteers said hundreds of singers across England and Wales are coming together for another season of "music, performances, community and fundraising".

The organisation's members have now collectively raised more than £212,000 for charity and are trying to hit their target of £1m.

The Houghton Regis Buskerteers Choir meets every Thursday from 8pm to 9.30pm at the Orchard Room, Linmere Farmstead.

People interested in joining can attend a free taster session to see what the choir is like before becoming a member.
