Coronavirus latest: 102 positive tests confirmed in Luton today

Elsewhere in the county, Central Bedfordshire has 3,208 (+63) cases while Bedford's figure stands at 2,971 (+43).

There have been 1,453,256 lab-confirmed cases across the UK, up by a daily rise of 22,915.

53,775 deaths have been recorded within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test, with 501 added today.

It was reported on Monday that the UK government has ordered 5m doses of the Moderna vaccine - the third latest medication to be announced in the fight against Covid-19.

With a claimed success rate of 94.5%, Moderna is potentially even more effective than the Pfizer vaccine being developed in the US, which reportedly has a success rate over 90%.
