Builders’ plans for pub ‘nearly ready’

DEVELOPERS say they are on the verge of submitting a planning application for the former Bedford Arms pub site in Toddington.

People living near the site are upset at the fence that has been put up in front of the site without planning permission, saying it will become a target for flyposting and graffiti.

But the owners of the site, Kensworth Builders Ltd, who are based in Reginald Street, Luton, say that once a planning application is approved, work will get underway immediately.

A spokesman for the firm said: “It will be several houses, they’re going to be three and four bedroom. The pub is either going to be one very large home or more likely be split into two homes.

“When building starts the fence will be taken down.

“It does look a bit of an eyesore at the moment but we had to put it up for safety reasons.

“The planning application will be lodged very, very shortly.”

Villagers are being encouraged to have their say on the retrospective planning application for the fence by April 17. Plans can be viewed at www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk with the reference CB/12/01032/ADV
